What Alternatives Does GPS Consider? Obviously, the options available depend highly on the borrower’s current financial situation and their goal for the property. If the borrower has a high desire to remain in their home, GPS works to complete a forbearance or modification agreement with the lender in order to put the mortgage back on track. If the borrower will be forced to give up this property (for financial, personal, or other reasons), GPS can also assist by attempting to negotiate a short sale or Deed-in-Lieu arrangement with the borrower’s lender(s).
